Mahalo has been trying almost everything to see what will boost ratings view counts for its two original web series Mahalo Daily and This Week in YouTube. Ever since co-host Leah D’Emilio left to pursue other projects back in March, it appears Mahalo Daily has gone on hiatus while efforts are pumped into bolstering the irreverent This Week in YouTube (orTWIYT for tweeting purposes).
Without a definitive replacement locked up for D’Emilio’s spot, long-running co-host Lon Harris has been paired up with a number of surprisingly similar looking on-air personalities for the weekly TWIYT episodes. As Harris quipped in a recent opening, “This Week in YouTube — the show that swaps hosts faster than the Hanta virus.”
The standout so far has been tech-web personality Shira Lazar who has been on a tear lately in the web video scene, recently winning Kevin Rose/Ashton Kutcher’s 24 Hours at Sundance contest, not to mention hosting the Streamy Awards red carpet show along with D’Emilio.
