The Temp Life has kind of flown under the radar in terms of branded web series successes, but ever since it first convinced a blue-chip sponsor to back the web comedy back in mid 2006, it has trekked on steadily delivering for both audience and sponsor.
At first glance it portends to be another blah-blah office comedy, but the concept is actually pretty novel, given the show’s sponsor, real-life recruiting and staffing company Spherion. Take a comical look at small off-brand temp agencies, well known to job-hopping New Yorkers, and show what could happen if you don’t end up with one of the big boys like Spherion. The fictional agency, Commodity Staffing, carves out its niche as the dredges of temp jobs—think changing crusty urinal cakes and 24/7 lifecasting of a stuck-up socialite.
Streamy-nominated writer Yuri Baranovsky (Break a Leg) has been hired to write the new episodes and The Hayley Project’s creators Andrew Park and Jato Smith will be at the helm. There’s even word that Hayley Project star Rachel Risen (also Streamy-nominated) will guest star in the new season.

NY-based web studio For Your Imagination announced that Warner Bros Theatrical, as part of the massive marketing push behind their upcoming The Watchmen film, has inked a sponsorship deal with the FYI’s Axis of Comedy network. As part of the six-figure deal, a handful of the Axis web series will be participating—Abigail’s Teen Diary, The Retributioners, Kyle Piccolo: Comic Shop Therapist and HungrymanTV’s Phistophicles.
Kyle PiccoloThe funding makes way for three new episodes of Kyle Piccolo, which has been known to integrate comic movies directly into the storylines before (see the series’ Dark Knight deal last summer). The three new episodes will be dubbed “3 6 9,” the first one (above) officially premieres tomorrow and will be littered with hidden Watchmen references for eager fans of the film.
Kyle Piccolo star Eric Zuckerman (right), who plays the advice spouting comic shop clerk, says that he’s really excited to have the series back up and running.

New York-based web studio For Your Imagination is hosting its Spring 2009 Web Video Upfront tonight as it looks to lock up sponsorships and show off its latest slate of original web series. A number of new series have been announced including as well as their current hits like do-it-yourself fave, DadLabs, eco-conscious The Green House and the recently-launched comedy web series portal Axis of Comedy which currently boasts Goodie Bag TV, Break A Leg, The Burg, Kyle Piccolo, Abigail’s Teen Diary, The Patrice O’Neal Show and The Retributioners.
New this year will be a move towards content verticals for its web series slate, much like what fellow NY-based web studio NextNewNetworks has been building. With comedy, green and parenting verticals already in place, FYI is rolling out two new ones — GEQ, a personal finance network, and Glampede, for style and fashion content.
