Romantic Comedy Cliches Abound 'In Men We Trust'

Just because the WEtv and PersonalScreen Media have put a stylish budget and four attractive actresses behind the online original series, In Men We Trust doesn’t mean that it can stand in high heel comparison to the legendary Sex and the City. The creators, Michael Salort and Maureen Brogan make an attempt to take four girls through a romantic roller [...]

More ‘Guild’ Loot From Comic-Con, Felicia Day and Cast Video Interviews

More juicy media to share from the aftermath of the bombs dropped on Comic-Con by The Guild last Friday. In case you missed the news that rocked web series fans, the popular gamer comedy series is adding geek actor-icon Wil Wheaton to the cast for its upcoming Season 3. Also a hot topic at the Con was news of an upcoming Guild comic from Dark Horse Comics, the release of an exclusive music video (that will be available on XBox in about a week) and even word that “Vork” actor Jeff Lewis will get married to his wife “in-game” within World of Warcraft. (He just has to ‘level her up’ first.)

MSN, through their sci-fi portal Parallel Universe, just released some terrific interviews (above) with Felicia Day and The Guild cast intercut with fan reactions and some unseen footage of Season 3 and the “Do You Want to Date My Avatar?” music video.

Warren Buffett, Martha Stewart, A-Squared Making Kids Web Series

With their combined experience in children’s television programming and marketing, Andy Heyward and Amy Moynihan probably know more about your kids than you do.

That’s why they’ve formed their own company called “A Squared Entertainment” (cute, guys) and have teamed up with AOL to produce and distribute a season of three to five minute ‘educational webisodes.’ These aren’t just any web series, however – they’ve got star power like Warren Buffett, Martha Stewart and even model Gisele Bundchen in three new series—Secret Millionaire’s Club, GiGi & The Green Team, and Little Martha.

They’ve even managed to get the late astronomer Carl Sagan in the mix with Kosmos, a show that was inspired by Sagan’s Cosmos: A Personal Voyage and is actually created by Ann Druyan.

Jason Mraz’s ‘Grati-Tube’ Shows Nice Guy’s Sarcastic Side

Jason Mraz’s music usually makes me think of puppy dogs and sun kissed beach days, but with the launch of his new web series, Grati-Tube this boy next door shows he’s got a funny side, and he’s not afraid to make fun of himself.

The show launched to help promote his upcoming Gratitude Cafe Tour which is branded with an image of the pop star in prayerful and grateful stance, quite the contrast to the order-spouting dude who thinks nothing of dishonest assistant abuse in Grati-Tube. The image and personality dichotomy seem to unabashedly enjoy making fun of a man who definitely until now has seemed like Mr. Nice Guy.

Eric Schwartz, aka Smooth-e co-created the show with Mraz, and also plays the aforementioned abused assistant. We caught up with him via email to get the scoop.

‘The Guild’ Adds Wil Wheaton, Rocks Comic-Con

It was an entrance typically reserved for the A-list movie stars, but at Comic-Con in San Diego this morning Felicia Day and the cast of The Guild were rock stars. Hundreds of fans lined up hours before the morning panel and screening of the hit web series’ third season, cramming into the double room to get a glimpse of the “four surprises” promised by The Guild camp, including the super-secret bonus video.

The cast strolled in to a standing ovation immediately after, dressed in their colorful avatar garb complete with some impressively crafted weapons. Day, Sandeep Parikh, Robin Thorsen, Jeff Lewis, Vincent Caso and Amy Okuda have become household names amongst this crowd. This is what The Guild does, having learned to eventize their appearances, especially at Comic-Con, and the fans ate it up.

When the panel got under way, which rightfully was opened up right away to a slurry of questions firectly from starstruck fans. We learned that Dr. Horrible writer-composer Jed Whedon (brother of Joss) directed and co-wrote the music video. “Jed made the nerdiest people on the internet cool,” quipped Day, who wrote the first pass at the lyrics before handing over the finishing touches to Whedon.

The biggest news of the session came during the screening of the season premiere of Season 3. Picking up where Season 2 left off, with the Knights of Good still dealing some awkward inter-Guild relations as they eagerly await the new WoW expansion pack release. And then comes actor and geek icon Wil Wheaton (Star Trek) as the leader of a new rival Guild, Axis of Anarchy. (Yes, the crowd broke out cheering.)

‘Tease’ Trailer Out, Sheds Light On Fox’s 15 Gigs

Fox Television Studio’s new digital arm 15 Gigs released the trailer (above) to its steamy looking stripclub dramedy Tease today, giving us just a little hint of what they are up to with the stealthy new web television division.

The original series comes from creators Micah Goldman, Michael Wormser and Peter Marc Jacobson (who created CBS’s The Nanny). In what seems to be a more realistic take on the new-girl-turns-dancer story than say Atom’s Hot Sluts, this series shows all that juicy dressing room chatter that we never quite get to hear. Marie (Days of Our Lives’ Lisa Jay) is the new to the game but is a fast study from the pros, played by Devin Kelley, Sarah Scherger, Samantha Cope and Crystle Lightning.
