I agree it would be crazy not to sell a DVD. If you go through the effort and the costs of making a web series, why wouldn't you package it for DVD sales? I believe New Media will be branching off into many ancillary markets. The internet is just a road map- not the be all end all distribution channel. I want to also point out two web series; Sanctuary and Angle of Death. Both of these web series were packaged before they rolled cameras. The path from web series to DVD to feature-length cable option is ground-breaking. Both of these shows planned their distribution, and garnered great deals from Spike and SyFy Channel. (When did they change the spelling to syfy channel, by the way?). Andrea, you have to keep an open mind on this stuff. I don't see any let up in DVD's. It's sometimes a preservation issue, not a viewing choice issue. People buy DVD's because they love their shows. In the end, talent will ultimately determine success or failure. As for Hell Froze Over, I am left with one question; Where's the acting?

@Andrea Actually a lot of fans end up buying DVDs as means to support a show and get a higher-quality version with bonus footage and deleted scenes. The Guild, for example, has sold thousands of DVDs even though you can watch all of the episodes online.

I think it's a very tangible way of backing a show. It's better value for both fan and creator than say a Cafe Press t-shirt.

I never understand why producers think a DVD is the end game. Who buys DVDS, and especially who buys DVDS in new media?
