When we first covered StoryForge’s sci-fi comedy Zerks Log in early March, details were fairly scant; a teaser trailer, a brief plot blurb, and a few names to throw around.
Almost two months later, Zerks Log is fifteen episodes into its eighteen-episode run, and with new episodes due out every Monday and Thursday it looks like the show is going to wrap up in the next two weeks. If you haven’t been watching already, read on and figure out if Zerks Log is for you.
The show takes the classic Star Trek opening, “Captain’s Log, Stardate _______” and runs with it; Zerks Log is a series of vlog-style clips, each about 3-4 minutes long, starring Captain Zerks Ganymedewski (Ben Alpi), the adorably incompetent captain of the Venturi 553.

Way over at the other end of the intellectual spectrum from the deluge of celebrity gossip sites, or, perhaps more literally, web shows where people blow things up, is the web series Colliding Particles. Stuck in a dead-end job as a receptionist, a man decides to make movies at his desk.
This is the real-life story of a receptionist gone mad. After answering phones for several years at a Los Angeles talent management office, Travis Betz could take no more. Rather than taking his frustration out on his friends and family, he channeled his energy into shooting short films at his desk during business hours. The result is a weekly online series called, The Receptionist. Using only himself and a seemingly endless amount of construction paper, Betz creates a new story about seven days and launches it onto the interwebs. Fans of the series have referred to it as the love child of David Lynch and Mr. Rogers. As the series grew, so did the construction paper world around him.

Forget your World of Warcraft. Leave your Final Fantasy behind. Tabletop role-playing games are serious business.
That is, essentially, the gist of GOLD, the sports-drama web series with a rather unexpected sport at its center: competitive tabletop role-playing a la Dungeons and Dragons. We first covered GOLD back in October of last year when we interviewed show creator and actor David Nett, before the show debuted in November. Now we’re four episodes into the six-episode season, and things have started to pick up steam. With shooting completed on the first season, creator Nett says they are now switching gears into planning Season 2 and locking up a sponsor for the series.

Hellooooo! La la la! Remember the Seinfeld episode “The Voice”, where Jerry’s mocking, anthropomorphized rendition of a girlfriend’s stomach noises infuriates her? Well that voice is back, this time in deep space. Zerks Ganymedewski of the League of Outstanding Planets (L.O.O.P.) recently become captain of the Ventura 553 after the untimely death of his superior. [...]
