Zack16 Explores Its Feminine Side

When it comes to gender confusion in film and TV, stories tend to fit into two categories: the first is drag, a staple of slapstick comedy from Some Like it Hot to that terrible Amanda Byrnes movie. The others are stories about actual transsexual men and women tend to be the realm of drama, Boys [...]

Goodnight Burbank is back. The popular long-standing faux news web series from creator Hayden Black has been releasing 20 new episodes under a slight spinoff dubbed Goodnight Burbank: Hollywood Report.

The only problem is, unless you’re hanging out at Babelgum on a regular basis, you might have missed it. In fact, you can’t even watch it on the show’s own well developed site.

There’s nothing wrong with exclusive distribution deals, in fact there’s a growing belief that in fact may be the only way to secure maximum value for video content. The Guild’s recent renewal of its exclusive deal with Microsoft which locked it up on its triumverate platform – MSN, XBox and Zune.

Rev3′s Newcomer ‘Film Riot’ Has Guts, Literally

From Will It Blend? to the infamous Diet Coke and Mentos recreation of the Bellagio fountains, the Internet has always been an excellent place to show off the wonders of the nerdy mind at work.

Take that model and apply it to the world of film and special effects, and you have the driving force behind Film Riot, the new show from web studio Revision3, the same company behind everyone’s favorite Streamy-nominated social bookmarking show, Diggnation.

Ever wanted to figure out how to make it look like you’re shooting someone? How about blowing up someone’s head? Ripping an arm off? All of that stuff shows up in the trailer (above). Apparently the head-combusting will be the basis for the first episode. Other future episodes will focus on ghosts, explosions, lightsabers, and car crashes. Who needs film school when you have Ryan Connelly, Josh Connelly, Tim Allen, and Film Riot?

‘Viralcom’ Creators Joey & David Launch ‘Temps’, ‘Third Wheeling’

In case you’ve been dozing off lately on the web comedy scene, let me introduce you to the one of best comedy duos online, Joey Manderino and David Young, or simply Joey and David. Two best friends who started making online videos in high school, typical right? As cliché as it sounds they have turned out a promising career as web video producers and in the process have built an impressive resume.

Joey and David have been in production for the last several months working on new pilots and the first to be released are The Temps (above), and Third Wheeling (below). The Temps follows Joey and David as struggling comedians entering the work force through a temp agency. “It’s a really ridiculous, absurd series. The idea of temps, could live anywhere, but the length at which we take it, is very Internet specific, you couldn’t do that on network TV. We definitely liked it as a platform to get really, really ridiculous” Young explains.

In social psychology terms, groupthink – a situation in which members of a group don’t speak their minds for fear of alienation by the rest of the group (Thanks, Wikipedia!) – is typically a bad thing. Naked Running Goes Varsity in ‘Streak to Win’

Most college sports are for the purists. They’re for the people who can appreciate the game even when it’s stripped down of all the attention, drama, and spectacle that comes with the money in professional sports. That’s why people love school sports stories – they’re clean. Pure. Naked.

As far as college sports shows go, Streak to Win is questionable on those first two, but definitely the third. That’s right – running naked across campus is now a competitive event, thanks to the dedicated varsity Streaking team at Hamilton College. I bet their Admissions Department is busy trying to spin this one right now. Streak to Win captures a moment as significant to American sports history as Jackie Robinson or Michael Jordan; the moment that streaking went from a pastime of college kids drunk on hootch and youth to a capital-S Sport.
