What better way to revive obscure cuts of Prog Rock than spinning a soft yarn around an elaborate video and hosting it through a web series called Polyester Dreams? The series, created by and starring Andrew Harrison as DJ Warren Orlando, recently completed its eight-episode first season, and is in production for a second. Warren likes to [...]

The number one site for Internet drama, and the TV show format that thrives off of creating it, have joined together and created something beautiful.
That something is Married On MySpace, the new reality web series from social networking juggernaut MySpace and Endemol USA, the TV studio behind NBC’s Fear Factor, Deal or No Deal, and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, among others.
Married On MySpace debuted on May 14th with its first episode (above), “And the Winner Is…”, which introduced the three final couples (which had been chosen via MySpace poll before the show began), flew them out to New York, and sent two of them home while the third got to stay and start planning their wedding – on MySpace’s tab, of course. However, there’s a catch; while Anja Winikka from TheKnot.com is the wedding planner for the show, the details are left up to the voting public.

With USA Network’s Emmy-winning drama Monk set to wrap its eight-season run beginning in July, the cabler has announced that the series starring Tony Shalhoub as an obsessive-compulsive detective will live on after the drama concludes its run in the summer.
USA recently confirmed that it is developing a 10-episode web series revolving around Adrian Monk’s childhood.

Offensive. Endlessly offensive. There has been a small amount of recent hype regarding a new MTV project called $5 Cover, a Real World-esque series based on the lives of a handful of Memphis musicians. Reading the articles, one would be under the impression that $5 would be vastly different than the normal pabulum that passes [...]

The team behind long running comedy web series Tiki Bar TV has always been one to push the boundaries of web production, and now it seems they are keeping up that reputation as they announce a paid subscription model and an interactive video game due out later this year.
The new “Membership” plan, allows fans a slew of privileges including downloads of full HD (720p) episodes in Dolby 5.1 Surround sound, a 15% discount on all official Tiki merchandise and access to members-only events like a recent Happy Hour at Tiki Bar HQ. Priced at $49 annually, enrollment appears to be exceeding expectations. Tiki Bar producer Tosca Musk said so far she has “about two days worth of membership cards to print up.”

If any of you out there in the wide world of web television are feeling like you want to spend more time watching people with microphones follow around somewhat important people, you will be thrilled to hear that The Yellow Mic with Logan Leistikow (pronounced “Lice-tick-oh”, in case you were wondering) will give you exactly that.
The Yellow Mic, produced by Satacracy 88 producers Marc Cittadino and Andy Dugan, bills itself as a “guerrilla variety show”, which basically means that we get to watch Logan chat up anyone willing to give him a few minutes on the big yellow-headed microphone he carries around. So far, the show consists of yellow-mic-laden Leistikow, and guests like Erin Tietsort of Sunset Tan, web stars Randy and Jason Sklar of Back on Topps, and video game personality Cliff “CliffyB” Bleszinski (above) in an episode hosted by Marcus Beer of Annoyed Gamer fame.

There’s no doubt about it, Craig Brewer loves Memphis, music and the sexy combination the town brings to his projects. Brewer’s much anticipated $5 Cover is now up and running at full steam at MTV.com. If Hustle and Flow is the Memphis melting pot of sex and hip-hop, and Black Snake Moan is the Memphis melting pot of sex and blues, then $5 Cover is the Memphis melting pot of sex and a cross-genre pot of delicious musical gumbo.
The musical world of $5 Cover is as wide as Memphis is hot. Each episode highlights a new musician each week jumping between Memphis’s rich musical scene of soul, hip-hop, rap, clowns, and midgets. The dramatic premise of the show is simple. A group of artists living together struggles to survive while trying to make it, occasionally breaking each other’s hearts. The question is, can a ragtag group of real-life Memphis musicians also act and carry a show? In the Brewer’s $5 Cover the answer is a resounding yes.
