Dark Secrets Lie on 'Oldbury Hill'

What do you do when the mysterious death of your father causes your oh so grounded Beverly Hills 90210 life to come to an end?  Suddenly you find yourself in a new town, going to a new school where you get picked on by mean girls and slipped the occasional roofie. But hey, this is high school, [...]

‘Body Trade’ Gets Under Your Skin, Not For Squeamish

The neat thing about slasher shows is that they tend to get scarier as they get cheaper.

This is certainly true of Body Trade, one of Road Rage Films’ more recent projects from creator Mike West. If you’ve never heard of Road Rage Films, well, they describes themselves as an “independent production company focusing on making top quality movies with little to no budget”; an apt description, considering Body Trade – a show about a black-market human parts provider in Niagara Falls – feels kind of like a Troma Entertainment production for the Internet age of filmmaking.

‘Rockville’ Wraps, Somewhat Predictably Fills ‘OC’ Void

There’s no doubt that Josh Schwartz is the king of guilty pleasure television. The man behind Gossip Girl, Chuck, and The O.C. took on the internet world this year with Rockville, CA. The first season of the Echo Park drama just came to an end, and in a guilty-pleasure marathon I caught up on the entire season.

Hunter, is played impressively by Andrew J. West (Greek, Privileged) and he is living proof delivering pop-culture laden Schwartz-scribed mouthfuls is no easy task. His romantic foil, Deb, Alexandra Chando (As the World Turns), definitely had a challenge as she was forced to spout out the word “major” as the new “like” in describing everything from music, to bands, to life.

‘Grass Roots’ Campaigns Still Effective In State Politics

With today’s modern technology it’s easy to be your own writer, director, and star, but it’s a much more daunting task to create something people are watching. I suggest lowering your red flags of caution to check out Aaron Hilliard, (Life and Times of Tim, All That) who manages to pull off all aspects of the creative processes effectively with Grass Roots.

The show has fun guest appearances from Jerry Minor (Mr. Show, Carpoolers) and Nick Kroll (Sit Down, Shut Up, Life and Times of Tim). The series quickly penned a distribution deal with Koldcast TV, can also be found on Blip.tv, and their official website www.watchgrassroots.com. There are six episodes that run around five minutes each, rolling out on Wednesdays.

'Whorified' Turns Teases and Tricks into Competition

Considering America’s love affair with fame-whores, actresses playing whores, scandals involving whores, and reality television, it’s curious that it took so long for a reality show featuring whores in competition (excluding VH1 celebrity dating shows, HBO’s Cat House, and Playboy channel dating shows) to come to comedic fruition. This clever satire is the sliced bread [...]

‘Terminator Salvation’ Machinima Series Fires Big Budget Prequel

In one of the many conspiracy theories in my crazy mind, the scenario where Google and Apple merge to form Skynet is probably the most realistic. The new film Terminator Salvation will no doubt re-assure me that in the future, evil robots with the glowing eyes will not only have machine guns for arms, but also know my search history from when I was in 11th grade. As for my place in the future, I’ll be in the cave, telling the youngsters how I should have paid more attention to the Terminator franchise back in the day.

In particular I might tell them about Machinima.com’s Terminator Salvation Machinima Series of summer 2009. I’d point out that since it was the first machinima series to be produced with a major studio (Warner Brothers) and one of the first to feature ultra high production values, it was a potential turning point in the rise of robots as master enslavers. Was it a coincidence that it had “Machinima” in the title? We’ll see if this becomes the series to start the ball rolling towards judgment day.

The series may or may not be the breakaway series the genre needs, but it certainly could be. Focusing on resistance fighter Blair Williams, voiced by the gorgeous (and coolly named) actress Moon Bloodgood.

David Lynch’s Year-Long ‘Interview Project’ Doc Series Starts June 1

David Lynch: “What is Interview Project?

Interview Project is a road trip where people have been found and interviewed.”

It’s that simple. Creators Austin Lynch (Lynch’s son) and Jason S. (last name is being held a secret) came up with the idea while sitting at the kitchen table. “The thought of driving around the country and meeting people along the way is what excited us.”

At interviewproject.davidlynch.com, where the series premieres June 1st, you can see a promo for the show and hear Lynch talk about the 121-episode series, which will air one episode every three days for a year. Following Lynch’s intro there are snippets of interviewees reciting questions that were asked of them for the series: What were my dreams as a child? Do I have any regrets? What is this town like? When did I first experience death? Etc.
