RedLever Acquires ‘Bunco Moms’, ‘One-on-One With John Salley’

RedLever, the branded entertainment production company who you may remember from the TRESemmé-branded The Shop Girls of Madison Lane, announced today that they’re picking up the rights to two new web series – Bunco Moms and One-on-One With John Salley.

One-on-One With John Salley is an interview show hosted by, well, retired basketball player and four-time NBA champion John Salley. It looks like Salley has stayed active since retiring — he seems to show up all over the place — so doing a web show with celebrities in sports, film, music, etc. doesn’t seem like too much of a stretch. Personally, I preferred House Arrest With Andy Dick but seeing as Andy Dick is (hopefully) not on house arrest any longer, I’ll watch One-on-One With John Salley to scratch my celebrity itch.

‘MoCap, LLC’ Moves From Web To Spike TV, Keeps Blue Suit

Believe it or not, behind the bikini-clad warrior babe or the burly futuristic macho man you’re used to controlling in your favorite video game is actually a pale chubby dude in a blue suit covered in tennis balls.

Well, that’s not always true – complicated martial arts sequences or choreographed action shots sometimes require the best in the business. But when your game doesn’t require the best, then you call in MoCap, LLC – the “low rent motion capture company trying to get a foothold in the world of video games”.

MoCap, LLC stars Chris DeLuca (also creator, writer, and co-executive producer), Jonathan Gabrus, Kara Klenk, and Lauren Turek as Frank Claxton, Jeff Reynolds, Claire Owens, and Kendall Clement, respectively – all of whom you can get to know better here. Go ahead and prepare for the Spike TV debut by catching up on the web series.

‘A Week With My Father’ Cuts New Ground For Reality

“I’m too old to put my fingers in my ears…” says series creator Giacomo Knox in the first episode of A Week With My Father, a new reality web series premiering this week.

The drama of the father/son relationship runs deep through fiction and that may be because the reality of the relationship is so hard for so many. A Week With My Father brings estranged fathers and sons together for a week to get to know each other and hopefully bring about forgiveness and the birth of a new relationship.

‘G.I. Joe: Resolute’ Premieres, Edgier Than You Remember

Hasbro has released its first batch of episodes for the greatly anticipated animated web series, G.I. Joe Resolute. With the exception of the finale, each episode of the series is being released by Cartoon Network on AdultSwim.com, with the first episode posted online April 17.

The series, penned by comic-book writer Warren Ellis, is a darker, edgier version of the classic cartoon. G.I. Joe: Resolute will aim for a PG-13 rating and try to appeal to older fans who watched the original TV show back in the 80s.

CBS' 'Heckle U' Looks at People of Professional Trash Talk

Back in February, if anyone had asked me, “Who’s the top college basketball team in the country?” my only plausible response would’ve been “F*ck Duke!” Other than an innate dislike for Coach K, I was as ignorant about the whole Big Dance as the secretary who inevitably won your office’s March Madness pool. Unlike most [...]

‘Coma, Period’ is Professional. Period.

The boys at Psychic Bunny want you to know they are serious. Serious about their business. Serious about their production quality. Serious about their brand. And serious about the rollout of their new and first ever web series, Coma, Period. An existentialist comedy series about Dan Humford’s inner life while in a coma caused by a car accident. A show in which creator Rick Castañeda wanted to explore the idea that, “everyone’s had dreams where they think, ‘I’m never going to tell this dream to anybody.”

Regardless of how you feel about Dan Humford’s dark dreams, you need to realize that there is a deep calculation going on here by Rick and his fellow Psychic Bunnies, Asa Shumskas-Tait, Doug Spice and Jesse Vigil. The group, who started as a writing team at USC in 2002, built that little creative seedpod into a self-sufficient production house originally focused on interactive consulting and animation among other web-related things. And are now taking it to the next level.

‘HillRats’ Proves Working on The Hill is Cool Again

It says something about our times that the sight of a young man with unabashed enthusiasm for his job is an instant recipe for humor. Maybe we’re just too jaded, as a whole.

That said, as HillRats demonstrates, it hasn’t gotten old yet.

Created by Daniel Jones, Kate Schuler and Caleb Stewart and starring Josh Ruben of CollegeHumor infamy (who we saw most recently in the Graduates pilot not so long ago), HillRats takes the formula tried and tested by shows like Scrubs—a naively gung-ho protagonist who is surrounded by a set of hilariously cynical co-workers – and applies it to the world of Capitol Hill. Politics junkies, take heart; this may not replace The West Wing, but it’s certainly worth giving a look or two.
