Just three months shy of her third year anniversary in front of the camera on one of the internet’s most profound web series, Joanne Colan has left Rocketboom.
When the former MTV VJ took over hosting responsibilities on July 12, 2006 after a dispute between Rocketboom creator Andrew Baron and original host Amanda Congdon left the show without a frontwoman, the gig was only supposed to be temporary. Literally hundreds of episodes later (and one previous greatly exaggerated departure), it finally became time for the internet-pop-culture program and Joanne to part ways.
I’m told Joanne’s departure was amicable and Andrew’s post on the matter doesn’t lead me to believe otherwise:
Today I am so sad to say farewell to Joanne from Rocketboom! Joanne was really, really excellent at what she did here, she will be missed. Keep your eyes open for announcements from Joanne on what’s next for her! And stay tuned for more from Rocketboom…
I’m also told that regularly scheduled programming will continue, uninterrupted on Monday. No news yet on who Joanne’s replacement will be, but stay tuned…

The future is lucky to have you in it.™

Well, when he fired Congdon, Baron came off as kinda a dick. But I withheld judgment, because it was a hesaid/shesaid thing and I couldn’t know the whole thing. But if he fired Colan too… I think I’m done with Rocketboom. Well, I’ll watch to see who the new host is out of curiosity, but then I’ll unsubscribe from the TIVO broadcast.
Joanne was a real success in educating me while keeping me entertained any time of the day. I wonder what could be better for rocketboom than her spontaneous, exuberant and funny way of presenting news and otherwise!
Hope she’ll keep us entertained wherever she will be :)
Keep rocking J!
Joanne is like a warm coat on a chilly day. Or is the other way around? We Joanne Junkies will have to settle for reruns…. I would really like to see more of Joanne.. anywhere… Let me know.
She was the best!
Joanne is a heck of a nice lady, and having directed her on “Issues”, we’re wishing her nothing but the best!

It’s Caitlin Hill who’s replaced Joanne, and she’s not bad. Obviously her first day will be her worst day and she’s got a lot to live up to – but she looks like she’s gonna be fine (accent overlooked ;) )
Joanne will be truly missed. Her style was so distinct it will be hard to replace her. Good luck Ms. Colan on your future pursuits.
Sorry, but Caitlin is trying to “be” Joanne and it ain’t working. Joanne was always so PRESENT and CONNECTED to what she was saying and doing. Caitlin seems like a wannabe who is trying the same “schtick” without the talent and spark of Joanne.
I would like to volunteer to have Joanne’s children.
Just saw a the first show with Caitlin… I liked her… (a lot) reminds me of Karina from MobuzzzTV (RIP).
Caitlin reminds me of someone they snagged from presenting a local cable children’s TV show. Trying to hard to look cool.
Joanna was just plain cool and didn’t need to prove it.
…oh, but I’ll add that I do prefer Elspeth’s style.
SHE’S NO LONGER ON ROCKETBOOM!! DAM!
SHE’S SMOKING!!
WE MISS YOU!!
