Ever since its slick and sexy trailer hit the web last August, The Bannen Way has been a hot property amongst web television buyers. News today is that the action web series has scored a major distribution deal with Sony for release on its digital network Crackle.com later this year.
The trailer for the series, from creators Mark Gantt and Jesse Warren was shot on the über snazzy RED camera, stood out in terms of quality and polish that exceeded much of the independent content out there last year. The sexy action series stars Gantt as Neal Bannen, a debaucherous thief looking to go straight after years on the wrong side of the law. Co-starring the beautiful Stana Katic (The Spirit; Quantum of Solace) this one screams sexy and seductive. Fittingly, they’ve landed a hefty roster of premium sponsors – Jaguar, Ray-Ban, and Apple – all of whose products are flaunted throughout the series.

When I saw I was going to be writing up a show called The League, I figured it would be something about baseball. Maybe a comedy about a bunch of middle-aged men and their vanity softball league. Not really me, but hey, work is work.
I was wrong on both counts. The League is about two hitmen roommates, and it’s downright hilarious. Created by Kevin Regan and Joel Rickenbach and starring Jim Burns and Gordon Holmes as the leads (check out the cast page for more info), The League is going to make you laugh.

In the early 1970′s, on the ivy-covered campus of Princeton University, one first spied sophomores running naked through the school’s hallowed halls and prancing upon its manicured quads. Though its conception is shrouded in mystery, the Nude Olympics was a cult staple of the University for nearly three decades, beloved by students and predictably hated [...]

By now it’s secret that today marks President Obama’s 100th day in office, so it’s only fitting that the most technologically progressive and transparent White House to date would have a web series keeping us up to snuff on the honeymoon. Newsweek jumped all over this idea with its lighthearted reality web series The District, which premiered back in January just days after the President was sworn in.
Sure, it’s a bit of a spoof of the MTV semi-reality series The City, which is essentially just an East Coast (NYC) version of The Hills. Newsweek wanted to bring that glitzy, breezy narrated format with Barack Obama as the lead character, asking “what if MTV made a reality series about Obama’s first 100 days?”

For anyone who’s been living in a cave the past year or to anyone who’s just generally unaware and clueless, Proposition 8 is a Californian anti gay marriage ballot proposition that passed in the November 4, 2008, general election making same sex marriage illegal. To say both sides are passionate about the issue would be [...]

You might have even thought about it yourself, but then quickly put it out of your mind, “No, I couldn’t do that…I wouldn’t do that…I shouldn’t do that.” But they did. And now we are left with the inevitable, Ahmed & Salim by Israeli creators, Or Paz and Tom Trager, a web sitcom about terrorists. It’s official, no one is safe.
Softening the blow is the fact that the show is animated, so the killing of a Jewish girlfriend coming between brothers Ahmed and Salim is almost funny. Did I really just say that? There is also canned laughter and applause when certain characters like the boys’ terrorist father, Yasser, enters. The animation is decidedly simple, taking its cue from another edgy cartoon known as, South Park, heard of it?

It’s been eighteen years since the Soviet Union was relegated to the dustbin of history, but that hasn’t stopped Westerners from looking back on the very failed experiment in Communism with kitsch-fueled nostalgia, one of the many ways we display our utter contempt for the cruelties and complexities of the past. It always irks me [...]

While most of us bemoan the recession, adjust to scaling back our expenses, and live in fear of the dreaded lay off, an ambitious out-of-work actor decided to buck the trend, throw in the towel (temporarily), and take a dreaded office job (no, his name’s not Scotty). He also decided to share with us the [...]
