Geek Comedy Levels Up in ‘commodoreHUSTLE’

If you answered C, you’ll be stoked to know that long-time gaming comedy group LoadingReadyRun will let you do exactly that via their newest addition to their menagerie of web shows, a sitcom called commodoreHUSTLE.

commodoreHUSTLE centers around the lives of a group of eight eccentric friends – Graham Stark, Paul Saunders, Jeremy Petter, James Turner, Bill Watt, Matt Wiggins, Morgan vanHumbeck, and Kathleen De Vere – and the ways they deal with the mundane. Episode 1, for example, is titled “Laundry” – and, sure enough, initial plot conflict starts out with a simple load of laundry. By the end of the fifteen-minute episode, however, we’ve watched the members of LoadingReadyRun navigate through technology mishaps, crazy bar nights, and decide that they’re going to commit to this whole web comedy thing, which is something they’re actually doing as a comedy group.

Interview with Zoe Bell and Ed Brubaker on 'Angel of Death'

Here’s an easy guide to judging the entertainment value of a web series: If the plot revolves around the psychosomatic effects of a knife that looks comfortable in the hands of Paul Hogan entering the heroine’s brain, it’s going to be good. If said heroine is played by a New Zealand stuntwoman whose beaten on [...]

‘Anytime With Bob Kushell’ Star Takes Us Inside the Garage

After his strike videos hit the internet, “my agent Marc Gordon suggested I have my own talk show on-line,” he added. The pair pitched around some ideas and eventually came up with the Anytime 5-minute talk show concept. If you’re looking for quirkiness of Between Two Ferns, you’re not going to get that. However, you will see a funny bit followed by a funny and often awkward interview with a high profile celebrity guest, like Christina Applegate, John Stamos, Neil Patrick Harris, Kat Von D and many other people you would normally have to turn on your television to see.

Southern Belle Sleeps Her Way to Hollywood in 'Starlet'

What kind of twisted experience must director Noah Harald have endured to inspire the anti-heroine of Lila Carter? As the Starlet, Lila takes the remorseless, manipulative, sleep-with-anyone-who-gets-me-to-the-next-rung starlet cliché to a whole new plateau, all with winking Southern affectations. It took me a while to figure out the facial resemblance, but Ellie Gerber’s Lila has [...]

Streamy Awards: Academy of Web Television Announced

Updates on the Streamy Awards! It’s March and the super duper fantastic live awards show is fast approaching. Today we’re announcing the list of inaugural members of the International Academy of Web Television, the body that will ultimately be voting on the finalists and winners of the Streamys. Well, that’s except for the Audience Choice Award which of course will be open to the public voting starting next week.

The idea behind the Academy is that we feel the best way to recognize the best in web television is from a body of peers combined with the support of the general public. So to that end, the final nominees in each of the 25 award categories are chosen by Academy members with one automatic finalist in each one based on the top submitted entry during the public nominations period. It’s a hybrid approach.
